A Great Camp on Blue Mountain Lake that began in 1880 as the summer retreat of Civil War colonel Hiram Duryea, was bought at auction by the Collins family and opened as a resort in 1921. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2009. Cottages line the shore, and meals are served in the main lodge. The Adirondack Experience museum is a short drive.
