Five restored 19th-century buildings on the east shore of Cayuga Lake in the village of Aurora, assembled and renovated by Pleasant Rowland — the founder of American Girl — starting in 2001. The properties span over 60 rooms across the Aurora Inn, E.B. Morgan House, Rowland House, Wallcourt Hall, Zabriskie House, and Orchard Cottage. Each building has its own character and room configuration; the campus reads as a village within the village. Aurora itself is a small college town (Wells College) on Cayuga's longest shore, quieter and less trafficked than the Seneca Lake wine corridor.

Watkins Glen · Hotel

A 107-room waterfront hotel at the southern tip of Seneca Lake, adjacent to Glen Harbor Marina. AAA Four Diamond. Many rooms have private balconies with panoramic lake views. Blue Pointe Grille and Coldwater Bar on site; alfresco dining on The Patio with a firepit overlooking the water. Indoor pool and hot tub. Watkins Glen State Park, with its mile-long gorge trail and 19 waterfalls, is within walking distance.

Bluff Point · Inn

Built in 1838 by John Nicholas Rose as a wedding gift for his bride — a 2.5-story Greek Revival mansion with four Ionic columns and 6,000 square feet on a bluff overlooking Keuka Lake. The property later operated as Chateau Esperanza Winery (1979), and reopened as lodging in 2003 as The Mansion at Keuka Lake. Twenty-nine rooms across the historic mansion (8 rooms) and a newer inn building (21 rooms). The vineyard setting, the Greek Revival architecture, and the bluff views over the Y-shaped lake are the selling points.

Canandaigua · Lodge

Three bedroom suites on a wooded property with a private pond and walking trails near Canandaigua Lake. Each suite has a soaking tub, fireplace, and private bath; a three-course gourmet breakfast and evening desserts are included. Ranked in TripAdvisor's top 25 B&Bs in the USA for six consecutive years, and a Select Registry member. The property's alpine name fits its mountain-lodge feel — quiet, wooded, distinctly not commercial.

Canandaigua · Hotel

A modern lakefront hotel on the north shore of Canandaigua Lake — the first purpose-built luxury hotel on any Finger Lake. Rooftop pool with lake views, a spa, and a farm-driven restaurant. The property opened to significant regional attention for delivering something the Finger Lakes had long lacked: genuine lakefront hotel infrastructure at the upper end of the market. Canandaigua is the westernmost of the main Finger Lakes and the closest to Rochester, which gives the town a year-round commercial character the quieter eastern lakes don't have.

Hammondsport · Inn

A small inn on Keuka Lake — the only Finger Lake with a Y-shaped shoreline — in the village of Hammondsport, surrounded by vineyards on steep hillsides above the water. The lake is one of the Finger Lakes' most scenic and least crowded, and Hammondsport is its natural anchor: a compact village with a small square, tasting rooms within walking distance, and Glenn H. Curtiss Museum a short walk away. The inn is the right scale for the town — small enough that you're genuinely staying in Hammondsport rather than just near it.

Trumansburg · Inn

A Victorian inn inside Taughannock Falls State Park on Cayuga Lake, overlooking both the lake and the access trail to Taughannock Falls — at 215 feet, the highest single-drop waterfall east of the Rockies. The restaurant has held a serious reputation for decades, making it a destination for non-guests as well. The park setting means the inn is surrounded by trails and gorge views rather than a commercial strip. About ten miles north of Ithaca, accessible year-round.
