Where to Stay in Lenox
Lenox is at the center of the Berkshires. Tanglewood, the Boston Symphony Orchestra's summer home since 1937, is on the western edge of town, and in July and August the inns fill with concertgoers. The season runs from late June through August, and concert weekends book far ahead. Edith Wharton's The Mount, her 1902 estate on the edge of town, is open for tours from spring through fall. The village has more restaurants than most towns its size, and many of its inns are former Gilded Age summer cottages, from B&Bs such as The Dewey and Brook Farm Inn to Gateways Inn, Harley Procter's 1912 summer estate. Pittsfield is 7 miles north, Stockbridge 5 miles south and Lee 5 miles southeast, at the Mass Pike exit.
