Where to Stay in Hunter & Tannersville

Hunter Mountain, with a vertical drop of 1,600 feet, fills the area with skiers in winter, and Hunter and Tannersville draw visitors in every season. Tannersville's Main Street is lined with Victorian buildings painted in bright colors, from turquoise to mustard yellow, and has restaurants as well as ski bars. East on Route 23A, Kaaterskill Falls drops 260 feet in two tiers into the Kaaterskill Clove. The Henson opened in 2024 in nearby Hensonville, and Architectural Digest, Condé Nast Traveler and Esquire each named it a best new hotel of 2024. Its restaurant, Matilda, from the chefs behind Wildair and Bar Contra in New York City, is open to non-guests.
