Where to Stay in Callicoon & Barryville
Callicoon sits on a bend of the upper Delaware River, where the river forms the line between New York and Pennsylvania. The Art Deco theater on Main Street dates to 1948 and still shows films, and the Sunday farmers' market sells only from producers. Barryville, about 25 miles downriver, is the base for river trips. Several outfitters run rafting, kayaking and tubing on the Delaware from May through fall, on gentle Class I and II water. Seminary Hill, above Callicoon, has an orchard, a cidery and a restaurant. Kenoza Hall has 22 rooms and 10 bungalows on 55 acres above Kenoza Lake, with the Hemlock Spa, and Callicoon Hills, a resort since the 1940s in a 1905 boarding house, has 65 rooms on 23 acres.
