- •The Mad River Valley, between Sugarbush and Mad River Glen, has some of the most reliably scenic settings in the state — the valley is oriented north-south with the mountains on both sides, which means the light is almost always interesting. Properties here work in every season.
- •Stowe's mountain backdrop is the most dramatic in Vermont — the village setting with Mount Mansfield visible from the main road provides a level of alpine scenery that most Vermont towns don't match. The tradeoff is that Stowe is one of the pricier and more crowded destinations in the state.
- •For pastoral scenery — farms, village greens, covered bridges — the Route 100 corridor from Weston through Waitsfield to Stowe is the most concentrated. Properties along this route have been chosen partly for their landscape, and it shows.
