The Horse and Hound Inn

A 12-bedroom lodge on Wells Road in Franconia, bordering the White Mountain National Forest, now rented mainly to groups for retreats and weddings. It began as an 1830s farmhouse and barn; financier William V.C. Ruxton bought the farm in 1945 and built the inn in the style of an English fox-hunting lodge, finishing the lobby and tavern in 1947. There is a lobby with a fireplace and grand piano, a tavern, a library and gardens. The Tucker Brook Trail connects it to Cannon Mountain.
